The Natural Child, a Giveaway!

So, because I am in such a good mood- Orgasmic air ticket in hand, and because I would like to invite you all to follow along with my adventures here- I thought I'd gift the world with a beautiful book…
The Natural Child- Parenting from the heart By Jan Hunt
Hand signed by her… Her work may be well known amongst you gentle parent/ unschooler types. (Although It is not just for home-schoolers It relates well to all Parents)
This book was ordered with you in mind, I got the audio version and someone out there can have the written one.
It’s a book about attachment parenting, child advocacy and some home schooling philosophy’s; it talks about consistent approaches to raising loving, trusting and confident children…
It is a wise book, everyone can benefit from reading her beautiful take on parenting.
So well, how to do this- ( This is my first give away)
Leave a comment telling me of an entertaining game you play with children on long journeys…
People reading that don't have a Google account, sign up or email me an entry, I will include you in the hat draw.
I will randomly draw a winner next Sunday- open anywhere in the world.

Good Luck!

  1. I'm very excited for you, and can't wait to hear more about your travels. We are aiming for our first overseas trip with the kids next year ~ fingers crossed!

And we play the usual 'eye spy' with a toddler twist ~ instead of always using the letter things start with, we describe them :-)

I spy with my little eye something that flies in the sky....

  2. you are lovely....
We play a game it goes like this...."I packed my suitcase and in it I put an apple".
The next person says "I packed my ....in it I put an apple and a butterfly". The next person would say " I packed my suitcase and in it I put an apple, a butterfly and a cauldron".
Obviously each person chooses what they want to put in their suitcase, trying to remember all the other things that everyone else has already packed!
We also take it in turns to tell a story...making up a sentence each.
And we make up sill raps...my eldest daughter likes to rap!
Am looking forward to hearing about your travels.x

  3. I love the photography - on your suitcase, gorgeous. This is a game from Tricia over at Little Eco Footprints - collect an egg box and fill it with natural items along the journey - look at the objects in each little section, talk about them, describe, compare, contrast, make little stories of each one... Our children love this game.
Will you let us know where your air ticket is for? Interstate, international?
Take precious care. I know that all of your angels will be surrounding you and guiding you lovingly upon the way. Love Katie xxx

  5. Have come to you from Ginny's Yarn Along, my children are past playing games in the car( I would love this book for my eldest daughter who has 2 children of her own- I'm a granny!) But I remember them playing 'Yellow Car', everyone looks to see who can spot a yellow car, the one who does gets to punch(VERY GENTLY) the arm of the person sitting nearest, a yellow VW Beetle merits 2 punches- works best with children close in age. Strange I know!!

  6. We would try to take over the world, all that we could see at least. You sit on the left of the car, then you own all you can see on the left of the road & vice versa. Then comes the bartering, swapping a farm for a playground, or maybe a tractor for some apple trees. Obviously older and wiser siblings fared better. Does not guarantee total peace on your road trip!

  7. Hello, we play car cricket! Every car that drives past we look at their number plate and the first number is how many runs you have. You keep adding up the numbers as the cars pass until you see a 6. A 6 means your out, and its next persons turn. We find it fun and it passes the time really quickly Lisa :)

  8. Just popped in to see how you are and you are offering a lovely book - hope I can still join in with this!
Like Lynn, we sometimes play the yellow car game too - we call the VW's 'punch buggies' for obvious reasons!! But the game we always play is 'Motorbikes'...... sometimes in teams, sometimes singly, the winner is the one who has seen the most motor bikes at the end of the journey. It gets very noisy in our car with shouts of 'MOTORBIKE' the whole way!! It keeps everybody's eyes glued to the road and the trip is over in no time at all!!
Thanks for the chance to win, Star!!

  9. Our favorite care game for long rides is "I Spy". Fortunately when we're traveling on the interstate, we can always say, "I spy something green" (inevitably there's a green sign soon) and our son is still young enough to be entertained for a surprisingly long time. Wonderful giveaway. I've known about this book for a while and just haven't got around to getting it. Thanks for the chance!
