Well you
will all be quite bored when I explain how we celebrate these sort of
occasions… especially considering all the beautiful traditions, of birthday
happiness and love, one sees emerging, amongst families these days.
We have done some nice traditions in the past, especially the hand made variety, a knitted something and a home baked cake, this is so sweet, but these days-

Having
come to certain conclusions, that family life is all about love, which we do unceasingly; we make some effort to simply be with each other.
Letting those distracting thoughts of duties, plans or obligations go, just to spend the precious moments being who we are together.
This is how we choose to spend our “special’ days!
Our family is moving away from always needing to express our care, in a material way- this is progress for us, not a hard and fast rule, but the forming of our own tradition.

This is how we choose to spend our “special’ days!
Our family is moving away from always needing to express our care, in a material way- this is progress for us, not a hard and fast rule, but the forming of our own tradition.
In
explaining this I think of a friend of mine who inherited his mothers expensive
hand engraved silver ware, and his comment about the set... He said, my mother would only bring these out on
special occasions, but I use them everyday because every day is a special
occasion.. Fundamentally, everyday is something worth rejoicing in and those
people in our life are worth making feel cared for and appreciated everyday.
So on a
birthday, we remember what makes our life special it is each other. We give love
and receive love from each other, and eat something nice and do something nice…
and it’s always just enough and never ever too much.

Sounds like you are celebrating the important things everyday :-) Sometimes finding the balance can be a challenge, but it sounds like you've found it for your family.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at Happy Family Times x
By the way, the wonderful photos in amongst the leaves remind me of playing in a park in Daylesford when I was a wee one x
ReplyDeleteI just love how you have expressed your self and your family here. The photos of your family are just beautiful. We have a few more birthday traditions, but are moving towards a more simple day without all the obligations and big parties. It was my son's best day ever, he said. Many blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a wonderful post. Thank you so much for sharing it at Happy Family Times! It really reminds me of what is important.
