Stitching as sacred.

I think the first stitches of a project are the most important, the way in which I approach it, my enthusiasm and expectations, how I relate to the material, all this seeps into the stitches and sets the stage for the creative adventure.
The beginning is a boat, Setting my heart afloat on an inner journey.

I have learnt that there is much more to be gained than an end product.
I create, attempting to make something enjoyable or useful, starting with my imaginings and offering my toils and trials to the process of skill development.

But what of the mind; how can satisfaction develop  unencumbered by end results… I am trying my hand at knitting, stitching, painting and making for inner peace and insight.

Experimentally inclined, I gathered the silks, embroidery threads and needles, making sure I bring along a vast and quite mind.
Designating the session as meditation and with each part of the process, I am taken one step deeper into the moment.

This may sound like pretty words but as woman, we hold within, sometime so deep within that we haven't even noticed, the wisdom abilities, the innate knowledge of healing and intuition, of compassion and deep love.
Our crafts can help us open this.

I like to bring to mind, that of a woman spinning wool at a wheel, she becomes so quite and absorbed within the hypnotic movement, that visions of the future arise, she indeed has activated her wisdom, parted the veil and opened the door to the other worlds.
